Letter from the Principal

Dear BCIS Bronco Community,
亲爱的 BCIS Bronco 社区成员们,
The first week of school is officially behind us. What a week it was!
我们顺利地度过了开学的第一周。这真是非常充实的一周啊!
From our opening assembly where I was able to introduce our theme this year, Serious Fun, to introductory meetings in each of our classrooms, students were engaged and tuned in.
从开学仪式，我给大家介绍本学年的主题“认真的快乐”，到每个班级的介绍会，学生们都非常专注与投入。
This year we have started our Reading Mornings – each morning from Tuesday to Friday students and teachers can be found with books in hand – reading independently as well as being read to. We had some guest readers take part in the program, and look forward to continued opportunities where perhaps some of you will participate in reading to our students. Research shows that both reading independently and being read to on a regular basis leads to higher academic achievement. We have designated each morning as Reading Morning just for this reason. Please contact your child’s teachers about how you can participate.
今年，我们开始了晨读项目——每周二至周五的早上，学生们和老师们手里都捧着书：要么进行自主阅读，要么老师给学生朗读书中的故事。我们也邀请了一些朗读嘉宾参加到了我们的晨读计划，并希望有机会家长们也可以参与到给学生们阅读的活动中。研究表明，频繁地自主阅读和听读能提高学术水平。也正因如此，我们设立了晨读项目。欢迎您咨询您孩子的老师，了解如何参与到该活动中。
After School Activity signup is now underway. We look forward to having our students participate in the many different activities that have been planned. These will begin on Monday, August 31 and run for the duration of the semester.
课后课的报名正如火如荼地进行中，我们期待学生们能积极参与到丰富的课后课当中。课后课将于8月31日周一开始，并持续一学期
We will begin our Fall Measure of Academic Progress (MAP) Testing on September 8. Students in all grades will be taking a preliminary test for Mathematics, Reading, and Language with K-3 also taking a Fluency test and 4-7 taking a Science test. Students in Kindergarten (LTC) test in Mathematics, Reading, and Fluency. The test this fall is to develop a baseline to help us measure growth over the course of the year – we do not use these results to measure a student against their peers.
学校将于9月8日开始对学生进行秋季的MAP测试。所有年级的学生将会进行数学，阅读和语言的初步测试。另外，K班至3年级的学生会进行口语流利度的测试，4年级至7年级的学生会进行科学测试。LTC的学生会进行数学，阅读和口语流利度的测试。该秋季测评的目的是建立基准，以帮助我们评估学生一学年的学习进步情况。学生的测试结果不用以与其他同龄学生做对比。
I’ve included a short video along with this letter to give you some visual insight into what’s been happening just before school opened to help us prepare, along with some action from our students and teachers last week as the school year got under way.
