The 1st Chinese Cultural Festival

On Jan.26th, we held the 1st Chinese Cultural Festival in our school's gymnasium. The theme of this year's festival was CHINESE MUSIC AND DANCE

The bitter cold weather didn't keep the activity from going full swing. Everyone was wearing beautiful ethnic costumes, and the students were active in different areas in the gym. The children were not only participants, but planned and implemented the event. Large posters made by our senior students on the display boards were beautiful done. They spent two weeks in group division, integration of information, design layout, writing, coloring, and setting up problems. In the process of implementing, the students utilized their innovative spirit and cooperation abilities.

The event began with various performances on the stage: Chinese songs, dancing, playing Chinese zither… After enjoying stage performances the students moved into game time. Chinese song Lyrics game center in the middle of gym was crowed. Many students took part in the games divided into two groups to grab the seat for singing songs. It was a lively event. On the other side of the gym a bamboo dance began. The rhythm of the sound made by bamboos was loud, but no one retreated. A handkerchief was just turned up quickly here and the pipe, made by the students, had been blew a whining noise.

The activity allowed the students to have a preliminary understanding of Chinese music and dance. They opened a window of China's cultural landscape. We hope this can be a beginning to lead the children into exploring the secrets of the Chinese culture.
