The 4th annual BCIS American Fair was held on May 7th
The 4th annual BCIS American Fair was held on May 7th. It was a hot and sunny day that made us all cringe about what kind of summer we are going to have, yet more than a thousand parents and children attended. With 45 booths providing a wide variety of useful information, fabulous food, fun games and prizes, guests indulged themselves in an amazing cultural feast.
BCIS teachers and staff arrived extra early in the morning to get their booths set up. When guests arrived, the venue had turned into a U.S. dream-land, consisting of 9 regions including the Gulf States, Islands, Midwest, New England, Northeast, Pacific Northwest, West, Southeast and Southwest. These teachers’ booths not only featured information about the different regions, but they also provided photo opportunities for guests to take snapshots of themselves in front of famous places as if they were actually there. Meanwhile, with the guidance of teachers and teaching assistants, kids played lots of exciting American carnival games, did traditional arts and bonded with their families. The walk-a-thon, hamster ball, Lei making, sand art and baking contests, which were just a few of many activities, attracted lots of visitors.
If you want to know what authentic American games are really like, you have to come and experience them yourselves.
In addition to the teachers and staff at the 9 regional booths, outside vendors and parents also supported the event with captivating games, food and refreshing icy drinks to keep guests hydrated. Everybody left with a smile and full tummies! We appreciate their great effort and would also like to thank our sponsors, DreamBoxand Vengo Fencing for their big support. The profit from this fantastic fund raising event will go to the Concordia Education & Welfare Foundation to improve the lives of the LongYuan Primary School students, who study at an impoverished rural school in China.
