The Western Association of Schools and Colleges

The Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) is an official academic body responsible for the accreditation of public and private universities, colleges, secondary and elementary schools. It is one of the six regional accrediting agencies in America. It also certifies top international schools in the Asia-pacific region.

WASC accreditation indicates that a school has a correct philosophy, abundant educational resources and excellent teaching quality, and also proves to students and parents that the school always puts students' learning as the first priority, constantly improves itself and pursues excellence. At the same time, WASC accreditation, indicates that a school provides more opportunities for faculty and staff to participate in high-level trainings such as career development projects and activities, for students to participate in more inter-school sports, cultural or social service activities, and otherwise expand their horizons.

The WASC self-study visiting committee visited BCIS on April 14 to 18. The team examined the mission of the school, plans, and the operation. The team read the WASC report which was presented, listened to reports from the management team, deans of the school, and leaders from different grades. The WASC team held meetings with representatives from the parents and the students. They did research on what has been done at the school and gave BCIS some advice on different themes.

After one week’s visiting, the team cheered with BCIS on these aspects of its schoolwide strengths and also advise don how to improve in different aspects.

Education is a continuous process, and everybody at BCIS is working together to achieve this goal. We, as a teachers, parents, and students will work together to improve ourselves, and strive for a better future.
