新年快乐！ Happy New Year！

Dear BCIS Family and Friends,

亲爱的BCIS家人和朋友，

The past year has been one of many challenges, many obstacles, but also many triumphs. With the onset of the COVID-19 virus, schools all around the globe were forced into closing campuses and moving students to online, remote learning. This was met with varying degrees of setbacks and successes, with many questioning how long this type of learning could be sustained and to what extent student learning would be impacted. Most agreed that online learning was not what they preferred for their children, and welcomed the chance to get “back into the classroom” once the new school year resumed in the fall.

过去的一年是许多挑战、许多障碍，但也有许多胜利的一年。随着新冠肺炎病毒的爆发，全球各地的学校被迫关闭校园，将学生转移到在线远程学习。这遇到了不同程度的挫折和成功，许多人质疑这种类型的学习可以持续多长时间，学生的学习会受到多大程度的影响。大多数人认为在线学习并不适合他们的孩子，绝大部分的家长都希望在秋季新学年恢复后有机会“回到教室”。

Buena Vista Concordia International School rose to that challenge. In early August, BCIS was one of the first schools in Shenzhen to reopen its doors to students and welcome them back on campus. With a full complement of teachers and support staff, BCIS resumed in-person classes with little change to the learning model.

曦城协同国际学校迎接了这一挑战。8月初，BCIS是深圳首批向学生重新开放并欢迎他们重返校园的学校之一。在教师和辅助人员的全力支持下，BCIS全面恢复了面授线下课程，学习模式和疫情以前相比没有什么变化。

The first semester saw BCIS implement Reading Mornings, Monday Morning Assemblies, and a focus on developing literacy for all students. With its Spirit Weeks and a variety of festivals and events, BCIS brought the motto of “Serious Fun” to life. Parents, students, and staff alike have all remarked about how much they are enjoying the school year as a part of the BCIS community.

第一个学期，BCIS实施了“阅读早晨”、“周一早晨集会”，以及一项针对所有学生的读书计划。通过它的精神周和各种各样的节日和活动，BCIS把“严肃的乐趣”的座右铭带到了生活中。家长、学生和教职员工都表示，作为BCIS社区的一员，他们非常享受这一学年。

The new year brings about feelings of hope, of growth, and of prosperity. The second semester at BCIS promises to grab on to those feelings and build on the learning from the past 12 months. 2021 is a season of new beginnings and fresh possibilities.

新的一年带来了希望、成长和繁荣。在BCIS的第二个学期，我承诺抓住这些感觉，在过去12个月的学习基础上再接再厉。2021年是一个新的开始和新的可能性的季节。

We wish all of you the very best that the new year has to offer as we begin the second semester on January 4.
