Course in the Methodology of Thinking
On three successive Thursdays beginning from 10 September 2015, BCIS is offering a training course in the methodology of thinking for our Chinese language teachers and any other interested employees of BCIS. We have invited the logician, Dr. Zhang Haipeng, to be the lecturer of the course. The course is to focus on logico-linguistic analysis.
Our thinking mostly relies on language. Although language can help us in thinking, it can sometimes cause frustration, inhibiting us from thinking properly. Many fallacies of thinking are due to the misuse of our language or concepts. Linguistic-conceptual analysis teaches people how to think by means of using our language and concepts more clearly and precisely. We hope that the course will enhance teachers’ thinking techniques, therefore improving their teaching skills. Consequently, the thinking techniques of our students would also be enhanced through their teachers’ illumination and demonstration in their teaching.
